Jamie has spent most of his past 20 or so summer seasons living in a tent. He started out leading canoe trips at a camp in northern Ontario, and has gone on to instruct backpacking and canoe courses for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), guide canoe trips for Blackfeather, and row a gear raft down the Magpie River in northern Quebec with Boreal River. He has been teaching whitewater rescue technician (WRT) courses with Boreal River since 2013, and is currently teaching at an outdoor education center in Jasper National Park, Alberta.
