WAFA to WFR Bridge – Boreal River – 32819

The WAFA to WFR Bridge course upgrades the Wilderness Advanced First Aid to a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) in 4 days. This course must be taken within 3 years of receiving the WMA International WAFA certification or an equivalent from another provider. The WFR is the definitive medical training course for all outdoor professionals and enthusiasts. This course may be used as a recertification for those holding a current WFR certification or equivalent from another provider whose original WFR training was at least 64 hours in length. Current WMA International Wilderness EMS certificate holders may also use this course to recertify the wilderness portion of their certification.

The course is in English. 30 min from downtown Ottawa. Stay on-site in comfortable lodging for $29/night with kitchen, WIFI. Enjoy surrounding wilderness. 5 mins from the awesome town of Wakefield.

LODGING The course site is a cozy retreat centre on 75 acres of wilderness bordering Gatineau Park! You’ll be minutes from the awesome riverside village of Wakefield. Option A – Stay on-site in a comfortable shared lodging for $29 CAD/night. Enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, spacious bedrooms, WIFI, library, fireplace, cozy common areas. Option B – Commute from Ottawa/Gatineau (30 minutes) Option C – Book a private room at a hotel or B&B in the village of Wakefield, 7km/4.5miles from the course location. Pickup & Drop-off: You can get picked-up and dropped-off at the Ottawa airport, train, or bus station or anywhere downtown for $29 CAD each way. Pick-ups are before 6pm the day before your course. Drop-offs are the evening that your course ends. FOOD Bring groceries to prepare your own meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Boreal River supplies coffee and tea. There are grocery stores, restaurants, cafés, and bakeries a short drive away in Wakefield.
