Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. The 5-day format is for individuals and sponsors with less time available for on-site training and requires 25 hours of pre-course preparation.
Students must register at least 2 weeks before the course date. All students must complete all pre-course work prior to arrival on course.

Course in English—based out of an eco-camp on the Pacuare River
The 7-day program (5-day course) includes: professional instruction, comfortable lodging, all meals, guided rafting, and transport from San Jose onwards.
You need to be in good enough physical condition to raft and walk on steep and uneven terrain—but no experience needed.
This course takes place at an incredible eco-camp that we get to by rafting the Pacuare River!
You’ll meet the group and your instructor in San Jose, Costa Rica and everything’s included from there: lodging, meals, professionally guided rafting and side hikes, instruction, and return transport to San Jose.
Facilities include a platform tent you get to yourself with twin mattress and bedding, hammock lounges, private bathrooms with flush toilets and showers, and acres of gardens and trails—the perfect place to immerse yourself in learning and experience Costa Rica.
If you’d like to break up your payment into installments, that’s no problem. You can organize this with Dorothy at Boreal River Rescue office.
